Why can’t I just dial 211?
There is no 211 line in Valdosta or Lowndes County — yet.
In most of the country, dialing 2-1-1 connects you to a local helpline that refers you to food, housing, utility, and health programs. Georgia has no statewide 211 — coverage is run region by region — and the official United Ways of Georgia roster lists Greater Valdosta as “Coming Soon.” Until that launches, dialing 211 here simply does not connect to a local service.
What to do instead:
- Use the directory below. Every Lowndes County listing was verified against the organization’s own official source — names, phone numbers, hours, and who they serve.
- Search findhelp.org by ZIP code. It is the largest online directory of assistance programs and covers Lowndes County.
- In a crisis, don’t wait: call or text 988, or call the Georgia Crisis & Access Line at 1-800-715-4225 — statewide, free, answered 24/7.
