How does Gas Finder find the cheapest gas in Valdosta?

Gas Finder is a community bulletin board for pump prices. There is no reliable free feed of live gas prices anywhere — the paid apps get theirs from crowdsourcing too — so this tool does the honest version: when a neighbor drives past a station and sees a good price, they report it here, and everyone benefits. Every price on this page came from a person, and every price shows exactly how long ago it was reported.

The station list covers about 128 stations across Valdosta, Hahira, Remerton, Lake Park, Dasher, and the surrounding area, with locations from OpenStreetMap. Stations start out with no price — the map fills in as people report. A price is marked stale after 48 hours and drops off entirely after 7 days, because a week-old gas price is worse than no price at all.

How do I report a price?

Pick the station, type what the sign says (like 2.89), and hit report — ten seconds, no account, no app to install. You can add your first name if you want credit, or leave it blank. To keep things honest, prices outside a sane range are rejected, and one device can only file a handful of reports per hour.

How do the cheap-gas alerts work?

Pick your number — say $2.90 — and confirm your email. When a neighbor reports regular gas at or below your price, you get one email telling you the station, the price, and how long ago it was spotted. You will never get more than one alert a day, every email has a one-click unsubscribe, and unsubscribing deletes your address entirely.

Common questions

Can I trust the prices?
Trust them the way you'd trust a neighbor saying "gas is $2.85 at the Circle K" — usually right, occasionally out of date. The report age is shown on every price. Confirm at the pump before you count on it.

Why is my station missing or showing no price?
No one has reported it yet — be the first. A few stations also carry a generic name like “Gas station” (that's how they're mapped in OpenStreetMap) — tap the station on the map and use Suggest a name to fix it for everyone. If the station itself is missing from the list, suggest it and we'll add it.
